Master Award Recipients

Members wishing to achieve the Master Award are responsible for maintaining a record of points awarded at SCI and RBPC sanctioned shows. (See requirements for point awards within the SCI Constitution.) Once the goal of 500 points has been achieved, the member must send a complete summary to the SCI Club Manager. The summary must include the band numbers of all the member’s birds awarded points, the number of points awarded in each case, the listing of awards, the location and date of the Show at which the points were awarded, the type of show (State, District, National, Local; SCI or RBPC) and the name of the Judge. The Member will then be issued a Master Award for “excellence in Seraphim breeding” from the Seraphim Club International and their name will be listed below.

The SCI’s Philosophical Stance: The Seraphim Club International recognizes that not every member is interested in competition or even recognition in the Seraphim Fancy. Many simply enjoy the artistry and beauty of their Seraphim while quietly making major contributions to the Fancy. Such individuals may be the most important Members of all, as their methodology reflects the quiet reflection one must maintain to truly appreciate and understand the Seraph as a work of art. The SCI is truly grateful for the contributions of these quiet members. In light of this, the SCI president and club manager reserve the right to award the title of “Master” to Fanciers who have made exceptional contributions to the improvement and recognition of the breed along with exceptional contributions to the SCI regardless of show points. Nominations for this version of the Master Award may be made by other SCI club members to the club manager or president.

Honored Recipients:

Anne (Anya) Ellis. Anne is the creator of Seraphim. Her contributions to establishing the breed, improving the breed, and publicizing the breed span the decades between 1986 and 2026, with accomplishments too numerous to list here. (See under “History” and the footnotes of the “SCI Constitution” for a full list of Anne’s work on Seraphim.) She is an artist, and the Seraphim Show Standard is as depicted in the NPA Book of Standards is her artwork. Her work on behalf of Seraphim was exceptional and tireless, and although she can no longer keep Seraphim, she continues to contribute as president of the SCI and as an advisor to the club.

David Coster M.D. David began breeding Seraphim in 2007 and continues to the present day. He worked closely with Anne Ellis to revise the Seraphim Show Standard, establish a website for the SCI, promote the breed through published articles, serve as the club manager, set up national and regional SCI competitions, and promote show quality Seraphim by providing Seraphim to breeders throughout the United States. In six competitions at the Iowa show from 2011 through 2019 he was awarded three champion trophies, three reserve champion trophies, one best AOV trophy, and multiple HS ribbons, garnering 400 Master points. He continues to breed Seraphim and support other Seraphim breeders in every way possible.
